6 Ways to Promote Breast Cancer Awareness

6 Ways to Promote Breast Cancer Awareness

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the annual campaign to raise awareness about the most commonly occurring cancer in women. Here are six ways for your organization to get involved with raising breast cancer awareness that can also engage your clients, employees, and local community.

1 – Display the Pink Ribbon

Hand out pink ribbons, magnets, keychains, or badge holders on October 1st and encourage your team to wear or use them daily. Use the pink ribbons as a reminder to keep conversations going about breast health throughout the month.

2 – Organize a walk/run team

Build camaraderie and increase visibility in your community by gathering a group to participate in a local breast cancer walk/run or Race for the Cure. Make your team’s presence known with apparel that displays a message of support and hope. Your team can also hand out promotional products at the event to further spread awareness and show that your brand is aligned with a very worthy cause.

3 – Give gifts that promote breast cancer awareness beyond October

It’s great to amp up efforts in October, but it is also important to support breast cancer awareness at other times of the year. Lasting gifts like fuzzy socks or a roomy tote bag help keep the cause top-of-mind long after Breast Cancer Awareness month is over.

4 – Host a lunch & learn with a breast cancer survivor

Ask a breast cancer survivor to speak at a lunch & learn to give a firsthand account of why prevention measures are so important. Provide attendees with handouts that include information on local resources and providers who offer mammograms and screenings in your area.

5 – Increase awareness using giveaways

Providing your audience with promotional products and educational resources provides an opportunity for open conversations about breast cancer and the importance of prevention and advocacy. While breast cancer is an incredibly serious disease, using positive methods to increase awareness is extremely effective and generates interest from a wider audience.

6 – Share information on social media

When it comes to breast cancer awareness, even small actions help! Post helpful information about breast cancer or share stories of how breast cancer has impacted the people in your organization. The National Breast Cancer Foundation has wonderful resources for social media ideas and messaging.

In whatever ways you choose to participate this October, we are here to help you raise awareness for breast cancer research and your business. Contact us today to get started.
